The Role

Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the you will manage all incoming and outgoing MRO parts, VMI stock, and cycle count audits of all MRO goods. You will also support the maintenance planner in the kitting process checking in - out parts to work orders and research new vendors.

Pay Range: $28.32 - $38.32

What’s the job?

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

75%

  • Must follow all company internal control policies for supply management
  • Must possess adaptability, customer focus, as well as good communication and organizational skills
  • Generate timely MRO list and requisitions.
  • Responsible for maintaining stock status records
  • Carry out regular cycle counting based on criticality, parts consumption, parts value, etc.
  • Maintain inventory information: add/delete parts, setup store’s locations, set min/max levels.
  • Ensure stores areas are maintained on a weekly basis, adhering to 5S standards.
  • Assure that all receipts are properly checked off, signed, and dated by the receiver and given to the appropriate person for receiving in E1 within 24 hours.
  • Must manage the open PO report daily to track shipments, delivery times and order accuracy
  • Work with and request quotes from a variety of vendors and keep supporting documentation
  • Must use only MRO or approved vendors when possible.
  • Research new vendors
  • Work with site buyers to update MRO pricing list.
  • Work with Maintenance Planner and generate PICK List for work orders.
  • Support WO’s with reservations, request PO’s, KIT materials as they arrive.
  • Support VMI in store, tools, and lube rooms, and other requested areas.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with all procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Create Monthly report (Stock Qty, Value, Slow Moving Parts)

  • Manage and control spares finder request for MRO parts.
  • Create Capex + parts request for all items above 5K
  • Initiate cost savings projects
  • Work in adverse weather conditions
  • Verify all new parts requested goes in stock correctly, has a stock location, and to an equipment BOM
  • Develops and maintains processes and procedures that ensure efficient area functionality
  • Train storeroom users in processes, procedures
  • Licensed Forklift operator; drives company vehicle for work related activities
  • Create / Update Storeroom procedures as needed
  • Completes monthly safety audits and monthly/annual Safety computer-based training
  • Participates in team WCM events and other plant activities
  • Support maintenance and other possible teams on floor when needed
  • Performs other tasks as assigned

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to work established shift schedule, speak clearly so others understand, vision acuity to see details within a few feet of an observer, accepting of criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with high stress situations, sensitivity to other’s needs, positive demeanor, and model change management for the business. Must be capable of wearing personal protective equipment necessary to comply with government and company safety standards whenever engineered methods of reducing hazards or physical requirements cannot be reasonably accommodated. Job includes tasks that require walking, bending, twisting, gripping, stair and ladder climbing, entering confined spaces, navigating rough terrain and frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

Our manufacturing plant is not temperature controlled; wet and dusty conditions are present at times. Position is based in an indoor working environment with varying temperature conditions depending on external weather conditions.

Certain locations require pay information be provided in job postings. Saint-Gobain aims to deliver a comprehensive Total Rewards package to support our employees’ wellbeing and help improve daily life for themselves and their families. We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer potential candidates. Provided is the pay rate for this position which is $26 per hour.  This hourly pay rate offered can vary depending on location, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. In addition to the hourly base pay rate, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount can be up to 10% of hourly rate based on company and individual performance measures. The total annual target cash range (Hourly Pay Rate plus Bonus, annualized (40 hrs/week * 52wks)) for this position is $53,500 to $65,400.  Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.

 

Additional Pay Incentives for This Role Include:

Senior Process Engineer

The Senior Process Engineer will ensure that processes lend themselves to maximum production efficiency and reliability to the production of glass mat.  The incumbent will incorporate innovative technology and elements of Lean principles and continuous improvement to capture cost reduction opportunities.  Work as part of cross-functional team to support key business unit priorities, key performance initiatives, and solutions for on-going reduction of company’s carbon footprint. This role will be responsible for managing the Process Engineer, and Process Leads.This role manages project initiatives designed to improve the effectiveness of the manufacturing process in the areas of Productivity, Efficiency and Quality. This position provides effective leadership to impact process improvement and/or product quality, and to recommend necessary changes within the organization so that the plant achieves the highest possible finished product quality at the lowest possible cost.  This position will work closely along with all departments: production, engineering, maintenance, logistics and quality. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  

  •  Daily analysis of process trends, upset conditions, and quality parameters. Facilitates daily Process Review meeting to review past and upcoming 24-hrs along with quality, production, and other plant support. Analysis may include review of raw materials, chemical usage, lab results, and other process variables.  
  • Develop, configure, and optimize glass mat process from inception through startup – writing capital project request to ensure funds, procurement activity and ROI of investment capital.
  • Define and implement process standards, procedures, set points, and guidelines for the production line. Create management development systems such as Document control system (QT-9), Engineering Change Revision (ECR) process, and flow diagrams updates.
  • Leader of glass mat process improvement to achieve goals of variation reduction, quality improvements, cost reduction, and process stability.
  • Site leader for new products or product improvement, developing trials, programs and tools, working with R&D, according to customer or business needs.
  • Implement process to optimize sewer flow rate, defoamer consumption reduction, vacuum optimization, basis weight reduction -1.5B through 1.9S (other mat weights as necessary), line speed improvements and calliper reduction.
  • Collaborate with Quality team to analyze, corrective actions definition, implementation and follow up for any customer claim or Material Efficiency deviation or customer claim.
  • Understands Lean Manufacturing Principles (Kaizen, 5S, Pilot Projects) and participates, supports and is familiar with Continuous Improvements methodology as it relates to WCM Leads process control initiatives.
  • Apply WCM (World Class Manufacturing) tools to projects and processes to improve quality, process stability, and reduce reject material.
  • Manage the financial aspects of the production process, reviewing cost variances and performing root cause analysis to identify the variance and prevent it from re-occurring.
  • Lead process changes through MOC procedures for the improvement of plant objectives.
  • Perform process analysis (Lean or 6Sigma) in order to define cost reduction initiatives.
  • Assist with additional new tasks & projects as assigned.

BASIC PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Efficiently performs set-up, running, and monitoring of any of the Slitting machines. Personnel will assist in the training and supervision of new operator trainees. Ensures that the machines are running on their shifts, are producing a quality product in an efficient manner. Assist in the packaging and moving of materials.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

  1. Efficiently performs set-up, running, monitoring, and troubleshooting (as required) of all the slitting machines.
  2. Exercises strong working knowledge about the defects associated with Finished Goods materials and can make all required judgements as to a film’s quality and usability.
  3. Prepares slitting documents, core-tags, box labels and quality documents and training documents without immediate supervision.
  4. Assists in the packaging of materials when needed including making boxes, packaging material, stacking packaged material on pallets, and moving pallets of completed film.
  5. Assists in the training and supervision of less experienced operators.
  6. May occasionally performs lead operator responsibilities when lead operator is not available.
  7. Properly and thoroughly informs the relieving shift and department superiors about machine and production status, material processes, department or job needs and priorities, and problems of observations.
  8. Strictly follows standard operating procedures, set-up specifications, supervisor’s instructions, safety regulations and housekeeping policies. Follows procedures for any deviation to the above.
  9. Provides regular suggestions and feedback to Slitting supervisors concerning department problems, process improvements, machine operation and safety hazards.
  10. Ensures, indirectly, that all phases of the Slitting operation are performed in an efficient manner.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Informs Lead Operator of any parts or supplies needed and follow-up on request if items are not supplied in a timely manner to ensure that request was passed on.
  2. Performs finished pallet sign-off and rework activity (when directed).
  3. Suggests updates to procedures and policies on a regular basis.
  4. Communicates with lead, plant personnel and supervisors regarding production issues.
  5. Regularly monitors self-productivity and reports limitations to lead of department supervisor.
  6. Participates in continuous improvement and safety observations

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Set Up extrusion machines by installing dyes, machine screws, and sizing rings to manufacture parts according to specifications using approved set up sheets to cycle machines
  • Weigh materials and other specified ingredients per specifications/instructions and Load blended materials in hopper on molding machines as needed
  • Operate extrusion machines to produce specified product according to customer specifications and ensuring Quality of the parts.
  • Inspect Parts for defects and make necessary corrections to troubleshoot them out of the process. Escalate when help is needed
  • Utilize the Manufacturing Execution System to update job data, material usage, locate process sheets, view prints, etc.
  • Measure Parts according to print guidelines using calipers, rulers, and other measuring devices.
  • Meet Productivity standards on a consistent basis. Escalate issues to management that will affect productivity.
  • Purge machines during the changeover process to ensure the machine is ready for the next cycle.
  • Set Up and Operate the cutter to cut tubing to specified dimensions.
  • Label and Seal Bags
  • Operate the auto winder removing spools f completed product and setting up the next spool to ensure proper operations of the auto winder
  • Set up the printer to properly label tubing per specifications

The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $100,240 to $155,120. The Plant Manager will lead all aspects of continuous improvement at Saint-Gobain Life Sciences' manufacturing location in Portage, WI, impacting several product/production lines within Life Sciences' Medical Molding business.

Will manage the manufacturing facilities to achieve operations goals and objectives regarding plant safety, profitability, capital investment, cost reduction programs, operations planning, and maintaining employee engagement and a positive employee relations culture.

The Plant Manager holds the leading responsibility for the plant facilities and its operations, including Engineering, Materials Management, World Class Manufacturing (WCM), Quality, Finance and EHS functions. Will also collaborate/partner with the leadership/advisement of Customer Service, R&D & Marketing / Product Support for the Medical Molding business.

Promotes a safe working environment, comply with proper use of PPE, reports incidents, and participates in functional department safety meetings.

Ensures the safe and cost-effective manufacture/assembly of products, which meet or exceed customer quality and delivery requirements.

Oversees a 24/7 production environment in accordance with GMP & QSR requirements with a strong focus on safety

Key Accountabilities:

Manage, direct and coordinate all operations directly related to production and shipment of all products produced by the facility:  Materials Management, Manufacturing and Manufacturing Systems, Facilities Engineering/Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Shipping and Receiving, Process Engineering, Purchasing while adhering to all EHS requirements

Coach, manage, direct and coordinate Plant staff functions.

Work with customers to understand their issues and develop corrective action.

Serve as principal facility communications liaison with other PPS, Company, and external contacts.

Prepares operational plans and budgets, and report to appropriate Management on actual performance vs. those plans.

Drive systematic cost improvement and state-of-the-art processing.

Develop strategic plans for plant improvements and growth.

IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?

Experience/Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree - within Manufacturing, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related field; Required.

Master's Degree - within Business or Related Field; Preferred.

10+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing, within operations, management and people development; Required.

Experience with managing a mid to large size manufacturing facility; Preferred.

Operations experience within a regulated industry; Preferred.

A proven ability to foster and establish effective working relationships with management team, employees, and key corporate contacts will be critical to facilitating changes necessary to support overall process improvements; Required.

High comprehension of P&;L, cost accounting, cash flow, capital management, budgeting, and other financial concepts routinely used in planning and measuring plant performance; Required.

Knowledge of materials and inventory control practices, production scheduling, and engineering in a manufacturing environment; Required.

Safety oriented management style developed in a manufacturing environment; Required.

Excellent communication and proven team building skills. The incumbent must possess strong leadership skills and be a hand-on leader to continually build effective relationships, drive accountability, challenge assumptions and provide support and resources for improvements in all aspects of the manufacturing process; Required.

Travel up to 15% - for business meetings / trainings.
