What’s the job?

The primary role of Process Technician is to safely accomplish all of the production, quality, and cleaning tasks normally associated with the department. In this position, team members must be able to communicate effectively and work in a team environment. This role will be specific to our Lamination area.

Essential Duties Include:

  • Handling of glass and willing to run a hoist as needed
  • Continuous quality checks throughout each process
  • Working with computer programs and software to run equipment properly
  • Testing of product at different processes
  • Maintain a clean work area - 5S
  • Ability to work effectively as a team and individually
  • Ability to troubleshoot and respond quickly to minimize downtime
  • Strong decision making and good judgment to keep production flowing
  • Ability to multi-task and get the job completed to standard

Quality Technician

What’s the job?

Reporting to the Quality Control Supervisor, the Quality Technician is responsible for providing quality and technical support to Manufacturing by ensuring raw material, process and product quality tests are performed in a timely manner to meet standards and surpass customers’ expectations. This support also includes monitoring process parameters, assisting with plant trials on new materials, equipment or products and assisting with the investigation of quality defects (internal and external). The Quality Technician provides training to personnel on quality testing and product specifications. The Quality Technician is also the owner of the Plant’s calibration program.

  • Follows all safety policies, procedures and programs; is responsible for individual safety and the safety of others
  • Establishes and maintains the highest degree of housekeeping and 5S (Sorting, Straightening, Shining, Standardizing, Sustaining) to realize a professional and efficient work environment
  • Actively participates in AIB (Area Improvement Board) or equivalent quality reviews with plant team
  • Understands and uses Change Management Processes (Plant-level and Corporate) as needed
  • As a representative of the company, conducts oneself in a professional manner during regulatory agency inspections as well as during customer and vendor interactions
  • Learns all quality operations and performs all occupational skills within the Lab job group while maintaining high standards of safe work practices and quality standards
  • Performs laboratory testing on a routine basis per the Control Plan frequency to ensure raw material, in-process and finished product quality meets Regulatory, internal and customer requirements and specifications.
  • Operates a variety of laboratory equipment to perform various process and product quality inspections.
  • Analyzes and reports test results and process data; issues appropriate notifications and recommendations
  • Assists with investigation and resolution of quality defect production (internal culls) and escapes (customer complaints)
  • Maintains test results, product specifications and reports within the QDMS (Quality Data Management System) or appropriate database
  • Manages the outside (third party) laboratory regulatory testing
  • Assists the Quality Supervisor with control, evaluation and disposition of product (and raw material) under testing or on hold (B-stock)
  • Provides training to and evaluates competency of plant personnel on standard Test Methods, Quality Step 0 and other quality-related procedures and practices; is the site Test Method expert
  • Assists with trials conducted to evaluate and implement new materials, processes, equipment or products
  • Conducts quality audits (Step 0), contributes to implementation of any needed countermeasures and evaluates effectiveness of gap closure activities; reviews Step 0 KPI’s (Compliance and Conformance)
  • Completes regular competitive product benchmark testing and report results
  • Verifies (or calibrates, as appropriate) feeders, pumps and automated quality measuring equipment (e.g. Limab, Sensortech)
  • Owns the plant’s Calibration program which includes scheduling (and/or performing) calibration of plant floor measuring instruments and laboratory equipment as well as maintaining corresponding calibration records, includes maintaining inventory level of devices
  • Liaises with vendors on quality related issues
  • Assists plant team with troubleshooting through review of recipe, raw materials testing, process parameters in historian; provides an analytical and preventive perspective to optimize production output and production costs and to ensure preferred quality status

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) / A post-secondary education in Engineering or Science is preferred.

Certain states require pay information be provided in job postings. The national pay range for this position is $52,000 to $80,000 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 8% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The total target cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position is $56,100 to $86,400.

The Financial Analyst will support the Plant Controller for Saint-Gobain Life Sciences' manufacturing locations, in Portage, WI & Poestenkill, NY, with adherence to financial policies and ICRF controls and improving internal business processes to support the Life Sciences growth/profitability model. Will provide cost analysis, standard cost establishment, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Will account for all aspects of cost accounting including variance analysis and month-end closing.

Will provide staff and divisional management, accurate and timely information that will assist them in monitoring performance in order to reach company established goals and objectives.

Will complete specially assigned projects by the Site Controller/Staff as required.

Essential Functions

  • Provide cost analysis, standard cost establishment, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis & support to site management.
  • Ensure prompt month-end closing, issue management reports.
  • Provide non-routine accounting information to site controller, BU controller & other financial groups.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts/WCM.
  • Undertake project work assigned by Site Controller which includes multiple projects covering varying accounting needs of facility.

Required Qualifications/Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in financial analysis & cost accounting.

Ottawa Insulation Plant

What’s the job?

Come start a career with us at CertainTeed as a Production Operator. In this position, employees will work in a variety of positions on the production line producing wallboard.

Night Shift: 12 hour rotating shifts; 7:00pm-7:00am (3 days one week, 4 days the next)

Compensation: Starting wage $21/hour PLUS a $2.00 shift differential

Production Operator Duties:

  • Follow and promote all safety rules and demonstrate knowledge of safe operating procedures
  • Work amongst continuous running production equipment
  • Maintain well organized and clean workstation in a 5S manufacturing environment
  • Update required documentation in support of efficient production processes and to ensure a quality product
  • Perform to all quality expectations, isolate and report all defects, ensure that product meets all dimensional and cosmetic standards, and adhere to all SOP standards
  • Communicate efficiently and professionally with coworkers, other shifts, and other departments
  • Utilize tap measure for quality checks and utilize computer systems/HMI screen regularly
  • Count and maintain accurate inventory records as needed

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

Additional Skills:

  • High school or equivalent (Required)
  • Manufacturing experience: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Excellent team working skills
  • Ability to work 12-hour rotating shift
  • Ability to demonstrate acceptable attendance and work days, nights, or weekends as scheduled
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime as required
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including hearing protection, steel toe shoes, safety glasses, and hard hats
  • Ability to lift, pull, push, and carry up to 70 pounds

Senior Research Engineer I - Tape Solutions

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

Saint-Gobain Tape Solutions is searching for a Senior Research Engineer I to join our Adhesives Systems R&D Team at Saint-Gobain’s North American R&D center in Northborough, MA. The SRE I will be expected to design and execute experiments, analyze results, and present the findings in both written and oral formats in the areas of UV cured-acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive formulation, adhesive coating, adhesive characterization, and industrial scale-up. While not expected to be an expert in all these areas, the new hire must be able to quickly research and understand new technical areas and be able to rapidly analyze and interpret experimental results. The candidate should enjoy learning, problem solving, and applying scientific fundamentals to the design of new products and processes.

Under the direction of the R&D Group Leader, and in collaboration with Tape Solutions marketing and our customers, the Senior Research Engineer I will design and formulate new high-performance adhesives, produce lab and pilot scale films and tapes, coordinate plant trials, and facilitate launching new products. The new hire will also be expected to support projects led by others, demonstrate an open and collaborative approach in all areas of responsibility, and seek out others to enhance and streamline product development and decision making.

Essential Functions

  • Carry major projects through successful completion with assistance from supervisor (guidance on project objectives and technical approach are provided but autonomous execution is expected).
    • Projects involve the extension of present or new technology in one or more areas, involving improvement and/or development of products, processes, techniques, and fundamental knowledge.
    • Projects are assigned by supervisor and are several months to years in duration.
  • Fabricate product prototypes and characterize samples using various analytical techniques based on experiments designed by other engineers in the group in support of their projects.
  • Deliver high quality results rapidly and in the format requested by the project manager.
  • Manage and document projects effectively under minimal supervision by the direct manager; data and results to be presented in oral and written form.
    • Includes the generation of project timelines/plans, technical memos, research reports, and presentations to internal customers, project teams, and/or management.
  • Marketing and manufacturing supports.
    • May include pilot and production trials, and travel to manufacturing sites or customers for support.
    • Proactively seeks out all information needed to conduct the trials successfully and delivers the results in the form requested by the customer.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 7+ years of experience, or MS with 3+ years of experience or entry level PhD in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Materials or other related disciplines.

  • Hands on experience within a chemistry lab setting and ability to work with chemicals in a fume hood is required.
  • Knowledge of chemical and/or mechanical characterization polymeric materials required.
  • Attention to detail when preparing samples for testing and conducting sample characterization required.
  • Experience with polymer coating formulation and/or pressure sensitive adhesives preferred.
  • Experience with UV cured coating processes and/or formulations preferred.
  • Experience with new product or process development preferred.
  • Experience with roll-to-roll processes and web handling preferred.
