THE ROLE

Kaycan has an exciting career opportunity for a Paint Operator based in Smith Falls to join our team. This is a great chance to join a Top Employer and contribute to our growth and success.

Shift: 12 hour shift / Rotate every two weeks

The primary purpose of the entry operator position is to maintain visual inspection for quality control, production reporting, obtain coils from stock in accordance with schedule and place coil on mandrel to allow continuous operations. The employee ensures constant high quality production on a continuous basis by working safely and efficiently and minimal scrap and damage and no accidents or incidents.

Duties:

  • Verify with outgoing entry operator of any problems experienced on previous shift. Never leave workstation unattended while line is running to prevent defective material from being run unless permitted by the supervisor or his delegate.
  • Ensure appropriate coils taken from stock to satisfy schedule requirements.
  • Assist the line operator and/or supervisor in training and orienting new employees or transfers to the entry operator position.
  • If for any reason the line goes down, do your best to put the line back in operation by following the instructions of your supervisor or delegate. Remember you are part of a team, co-operative effort leads to rapid and thorough corrective action.
  • Assist with paint and roll changes as instructed by your line operator or supervisor.
  • Assist with any maintenance required on the paintline at your work station as long as it does not conflict with your primary job functions.
  • Record all data on the appropriate sheets.
  • Maintain your workstation in a clean, well ordered fashion at all times - floor swept.
  • Ensure cores are taped and put away when skid is full, (no higher than 1 core above head level).
  • Scrap skid must be taken away and replaced with a new empty one. (no higher than waist level).
  • The ban chopper barrel must be emptied when full and replaced with a new barrel.
  • Skid tops and cardboard must be piled on a skid and replaced when it reaches waist level.
  • Ensure that garbage is emptied and floor is free of debris prior to end of shift.

Position Summary

The Plant Manager, under the direction of the Vice President of Manufacturing, will primarily be responsible for overseeing the manufacturing environment. What you’ll do:

  • Cultivate a work environment committed to the health, safety, and wellness of all employees, and ensure safe work practices are followed.

  • Stay up to date on new and emerging trends in the manufacturing industry.

  • Experience with coaching and development of supervisor-level employees.

Research Infrastructure Support Technician

Saint-Gobain Research North America is seeking a motivated Research Infrastructure Support Technician to join our Northborough, MA R&D facility. 

The Research Infrastructure Support Technician is responsible for working with the IT Manager to maintain and support the infrastructure of our R&D laboratory facilities. This role involves working closely with both the R&D IT Management and research teams to ensure that the network, computer, and analytical test equipment function to meet our business customer’s needs. The job requires the ability to troubleshoot a variety of computer connected systems, and work with outside OEMs to troubleshoot both existing and new computer-based equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong curiosity, technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Functions

Technical Support: Provide technical assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to computer systems, software, hardware and networks. Assist SGRNA IT manager to work as an interface between the central IT organizations and the R&D teams. Image new industrial computers to meet Saint-Gobain ITSNA security and software standards.

System Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance and updates to ensure industrial systems are running smoothly. Work with SGRNA IT Manager to ensure R&D infrastructure follows ITSNA standards and security compliance requirements including the 28 Minimum Security Rules for Industrial Systems. Provide backup and recovery services for laboratory computer-based systems.

Troubleshooting: Work with equipment vendors and laboratory stakeholders to diagnose and resolve IT system issues promptly to minimize downtime and ensure continuity of services.

Project Execution: Assist SGRNA IT Manager and laboratory owners with computer system specification and implementation while ensuring corporate standard and cybersecurity is maintained.

Documentation: Maintain logs of support requests and document resolutions for future reference. Document laboratory computer and network systems to ensure support coverage can be maintained.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other related fields with 1-3 years’ experience as a Technical Support Analyst or similar role.

  • Solid understanding of computer systems, networks, and information technology required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems, Windows 10 and above required.
  • Customer service focused, strong communication skills and ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues particularly with non-standard devices used in the research or manufacturing environments.

  • Strong understanding of Office 365 applications with emphasis on Excel skills.

What’s the job?

Under the supervision of the Production Shift Leader, the position is accountable for Safety, Quality, Housekeeping and packing finished siding and accessory products at the Jackson Plant.

The Production employee is responsible for producing a quality product for our customers that supports our slogan of quality made “Certain” satisfaction guaran “Teed”. Adherence to all company safety policies and precautions while performing productions tasks and at all times when on the premises.

Day Shift: 6am - 6pm

Night Shift: 6pm - 6am (Hiring only at this time)

Shift Schedule over a 2 week period - 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on. Work 15 days per month, work every other weekend (fri, sat, sun) but have off (fri, sat., sun) the next week

Pay: $17-$18 per hour

Job Functions:

  • Pack vinyl siding panels after cut off from extrusion process, follow nesting pattern and quality requirements.
  • Ensure the safety, quality, housekeeping, for the assigned areas as directed by the Production Shift Leader
  • Assist operator with line set-up, including stringing the line
  • Cut packing straps to length for boxes
  • Assemble and glue boxes
  • Visually inspect each siding panel for color or other visual defects
  • Inform operator or Area Lead of any visual defects or problems before scrapping product
  • Monitor hot glue levels, restock as needed
  • Label and number packing boxes
  • Load siding boxes onto skid
  • Strap skids to prepare for removal to warehouse
  • Perform line housekeeping duties
  • Train other packers as needed
  • Perform other management assigned tasks

Environmental Conditions: The manufacturing plant is not temperature controlled; dust, fumes, and high noise areas are present inside plant areas. Noise levels exceed 80 dB in some areas of the site. Moving equipment such as forklifts, buggies, genie booms, and industrial sweepers travel throughout the facility, sometimes in congested areas.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

What do you bring?

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must complete associated training programs
  • Interfacing with a computerized process monitoring system requires knowledge and skills in the areas of computer navigation
  • Must have a valid forklift license and complete associated training requirements for safe operations and maintenance of the forklift
  • Must have a valid State-issued Driver’s License
  • Must be able to work 12-hour shifts on days and nights

  • Ability to work an average of 40 hours per week and speak clearly so others understand; vision acuity for this position includes close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception

The Niagara Falls PCR Facility is looking for a self-motivated and problem solving engineer to serve as the responsible process engineer in our ceramic powder production plant.

The engineer provides process engineering and quality consulting and decision making support to maintain product quality and processes and manages technical information flow for the same. Primary accountability is to support both the Quality Manager and manufacturing in assigned product or process line. This potentially includes active contact with the customer regarding product requirements and translation of these requirements into product definition. Takes into account effective use of materials and resources and recommends changes to product specifications as necessary. The engineer may provide technical or quality support to the sales organization to solve customer needs and quality or process problems. Provide supervision and coaching support to the quality and plant operators for measuring techniques and completion of required documentation.

The engineer works within an engineering group that provides technical support and development throughout the business organization. The engineer is a senior member of the engineering team in the facility, and is expected to take advice from and give advice to the senior technical and production managers, as well as function as technical expert for associates within operations. The engineer may serve as the technical team leader for a specified product or process line. Additionally, The engineer provides basic understanding of engineering principles to assure the technical effectiveness of required inspection functions meet customer requirements/contracts and process requirements utilizing inspection tools, gages, NDE (Non-Destructive Evaluation), CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine), computer aided inspection technology and/or statistical analysis software. This individual will support and assist in the administration of the ISO certified Quality Management System. Specific functions include specifying and purchasing inspection instruments, developing inspection documentation, material testing & analysis, process auditing, NCMR dispositioning (Non-Conforming Material Reporting), corrective/preventive action reporting, process data and capability studies including training of personnel.

Position Summary

The Machine Operator is responsible for operating, adjusting, and setting up assigned mill lines independently while meeting production, quality, and safety requirements at 90% of average productivity. This involves loading and setting up steel coils, making necessary adjustments for passing steel strips through roll forms, operating machinery, bundling pieces, transferring finished products onto wagons, and monitoring the roll-forming operation. The individual should be able to identify immediate quality problems by performing scheduled sampling and operator checks as per quality procedures and required product standards. They are expected to manually handle finished products and prepare cartons for final packaging, ensuring compliance with safety acts and regulations. This position significantly contributes to the overall production function of Bailey Metal Products Limited. Timely and accurate production is crucial to Bailey's operations.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities and accountabilities of the position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Load steel coil onto un-coilers using a crane once trained and certified.
  • Tighten the un-coiler and cut straps on the coil.
  • Guide the steel into processing areas (rolls) using jogging controls.
  • Activate the machine using the control panel by selecting the order type and clear any jam-ups.
  • Set up or adjust rolls and conduct a quality inspection to check product conformance.
  • Complete all required quality documents, and report issues as required.
  • Gather products, strap them into bundles, place bundles on the wagon, and apply identification.
  • Prepare all required production and safety related reports and forward them to the supervisor.
  • Complete any other work assigned by the Supervisor/Lead Hand/Plant Manager.
  • Abide by all Health & Safety rules, safe practices, and requirements laid out by Bailey.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Schedule Monday to Thursday 3:30 pm to 2:00 am.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Ability to properly use measuring equipment such as tape measures (imperial and metric), calipers, micrometers, etc.
  • Knowledge of hand tools such as tin snips, Allen keys, screwdrivers, hammers, etc.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Installs drive shafts for powering machines
• Installs air intakes and exhaust piping in truck box walls and floors

• Cleans and maintains work area and equipment, including tools

REQUIREMENTS

• Fork truck operation required
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
• 1-3 years of mechanical work experience
• 1-3 years of experience using powered or non-powered hand tools such as drivers, ratchets, drills and saws
• Basic blueprint reading
• Ability to stand for long hours and work in a non temperature controlled environment
