Electrical Systems Technician I

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

The Electrical Systems Technician I will install, modify, rebuild, repair, or overhaul electronic and electrical equipment and controls. Troubleshoot electrical and electronic problems throughout the facility for production equipment, building systems and power controls. Install and put into operation major electronic control systems that are new to production or that are major modifications of existing systems. Perform preventive maintenance on systems. Perform first level troubleshooting and repair of new systems during the operational tests and existing systems and improvise procedures to cope with unforeseen defects. Construct interface devices and modifications to the equipment from sketches and verbal instructions in order to refine the new system operations

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required of the Electrical Systems Technician I.

Materials & Products

  • Work on highly complex systems of electronic sensing and control. This includes multiple axis numerically controlled (NC) machine tools with continuous path or contouring control capability, such as machining centers, plant controls, and centralized environmental monitoring and control systems (EMCS) that use special purpose, dedicated computers to store operating parameters and initiate adjustments.
  • May work on analog, digital, and/or temperature, logic systems, programmable controlled equipment and systems, and CNC equipment. Performs complex tests and check-outs where fault isolation requires detailed knowledge and understanding of system, interfaces, test procedures, specifications and other pertinent parameters.
  • Work on a variety of electrical equipment such as AC/DC motors (single, split, and three-phase), generators, starters, voltage regulators, servo mechanisms, alternators, transformers, actuators, power control panels, control sticks, instrument panels, or inverters. May rewind motors, generators, transformers, precision coils, and similar components.
  • May work on power distribution systems and substations if certified with proper training.


Equipment

  • Use standard hand tools and a variety of test equipment such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, growlers, meggers, resistance bridges, and analyzers to test electrical characteristics.
  • Use feeler, depth, tension, and spring gauges; micrometers; and dial indicators to measure clearances, tolerances, and dimensional characteristics.
  • Make adjustments, set cams or other controls, and perform operational tests of items for specified performance characteristics such as torque, force, voltage, and current consumption or to detect excessive vibration, overheating, surge, or drag.
  • Proficient in the use of a computer, and various software programs to troubleshoot programmable controller and CNC equipment. Provide electrical/electronic documentation using CAD or similar software.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required State license for Electronic Technician is preferred.
  • Possess MA Journeyman’s License plus 3 years industrial experience is preferred.
  • Possess power distribution certificate is preferred.
  • Training may be greater than one year to learn all areas of facility, equipment and operations to work independently.

What’s the job? 

This position requires excellent troubleshooting skills along with the ability to proficiently read and interpret electrical schematics.  The successful candidate must be familiar, through hands on experience, with PLC hardware, PLC troubleshooting and ladder logic. Programming experience is a plus but not required.  Must be able to troubleshoot and repair all electrical installations and components in the facility and be familiar with touch screen technology function and development.  Experience with robotics is also a plus. 

Schedule: Night shift, 12 hour rotating crew. 3 days one week/ 4 days the next with every other weekend off

  • $40.75/hr after 640 hours until 1 year of service

The Roles & Responsibilities of this person would be:

  • Pipe Insulation and Cladding;
  • Fabrication of Vents, Ducting and Guards;
  • Operating a break press along with other Power Tools;
  • Use of sheet metal shop equipment for building custom sheet metal products;
  • Do maintenance, installation and repairs on all aspects of the building components (exterior and interior);
  • Measure up materials for ordering and shop fabrication;
  • Working with vendors, sourcing suppliers, asking for quotes and making purchase requests in collaboration with the Maintenance Planner;

The Process Development Engineer II for Filtration will serve as a key technical resource on the site’s filtration equipment and process capabilities, playing a critical role in the development, scale-up, and production transfer of new filter products at our Portage, WI manufacturing facility.

Will lead technical efforts to develop robust, scalable manufacturing processes, working cross-functionally with commercial teams, application engineers, global sites, and internal departments throughout the product development lifecycle.

Key Accountabilities:

Process Development & Scale-Up

  • Lead the development and optimization of assigned manufacturing processes for new filter products to Portage.
  • Evaluate technical feasibility and develop proposals including cost estimates, resource requirements, and development timelines for scale-up at the Portage site.
  • Execute scale-up and validation activities, ensuring process capability, repeatability, and alignment with quality and regulatory standards.
  • Drive the successful transfer of new products into full-scale production, including documentation, training, and process validation.
  • Collaborate with commercial teams, application engineers, and other global sites to align on product requirements and development needs.
  • Partner with Portage-based teams (manufacturing, quality, maintenance, etc.) to support process integration, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Technical Leadership & Support

  • Serve as a technical resource on Portage filtration equipment and capabilities, contributing to the broader Filtration technical organization.
  • Support change management activities, customer complaint investigations, and equipment maintenance efforts.
  • Document and share best practices, lessons learned, and technical insights to strengthen organizational knowledge.

Essential Functions:

New Product Process Development & Scale-Up: Independently execute assigned technical tasks for new filter product opportunities at the Portage site, from feasibility assessment through scale-up, validation, and transfer to manufacturing. Collaborate cross-functionally with commercial, product design, quality, and operations teams.

Project Documentation & Communication: Manage and document project activities effectively, including the preparation of technical reports, SOPs, validation protocols, and presentations. Communicate findings and progress to internal stakeholders (e.g., product management, quality, manufacturing) and external partners (e.g., suppliers, OEMs, toolmakers).

Technical Support & Continuous Improvement: Provide technical support for filtration-related needs across Life Sciences, including pilot and production trials, best practice sharing, equipment and capability development, and customer complaint resolution.

 

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (mechanical, chemical or related field), Required.

Work Experience

3+ years of Engineering experience within Manufacturing, supporting process engineering/improvement, development, etc.; Required.

Experience within engineering capacity supporting plastics manufacturing, new equipment design, modification and automation; Preferred.

Proficiency in data/statistical analysis, root cause investigation and continuous improvement methodologies; Required.

Experience with polymer processing and equipment, plus controls design/modification; Preferred.

Experience with CAD (Solidworks); Preferred.

 

Travel upwards of 10% - other manufacturing sites, application/R&D labs, business meetings, etc.; Required.

The Project Engineer will drive filtration projects within our custom solution portfolio, focusing on opportunities within our Medical business of Life Sciences. As a key member of the project leadership team, will manage projects through a structured phase-gate process, collaborating closely with engineering, commercial, and operational teams.

Enables strong integration with core functions such as process development, operations, finance, supply chain, and quality.

Ensures the appropriate setup and maintenance of filter items in our ERP system (QAD), ensuring accurate data alignment and timely purchase order processing across all business units.

Key Accountabilities:

Project Leadership & Execution

  • Lead cross-functional teams to develop and execute detailed project plans, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Facilitate effective communication across all project stakeholders, including regular updates, risk mitigation strategies, and issue resolution.
  • Drive projects through the phase-gate process, ensuring milestones are met and documentation is complete.

Process & Systems Management

  • Establish standardized project management tools, templates, and best practices.
  • Monitor and track project progress using KPIs and reporting tools to ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Set up and maintain filter items in QAD ERP, ensuring data accuracy and alignment across business units.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Central point of contact between commercial, engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve technical and operational challenges.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process gaps and implementing corrective actions.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Engage with steering committees and senior leadership to provide project updates, escalate issues, and align on strategic priorities.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and collaboration across all project phases

Essential Functions:

Project Management & Leadership: Lead and manage cross-functional filtration projects from initiation through completion.

ERP & Data Management (QAD): Set up, manage, and maintain filter items, components, and non-recurring engineering (NRE) data in the QAD ERP system.

Documentation & Process Support: Organize and maintain project-related documentation including SOPs, forms, customer files, and other records.

Performance Tracking & Reporting: Monitor project performance against key performance indicators (KPIs). Prepare and present regular reports to management, highlighting progress, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (mechanical, chemical or related field), Required.

Work Experience

3+ years of project support/management of Engineering Initiatives/projects in a manufacturing or R&D setting.  

Experience within new product development, manufacturing and/or production operations; Preferred.  

Proficiency/Familiarity with Project Management Tools (i.e. MS Project, MS Planner, Monday.com, MS Teams, etc.); Required.

Experience with ERP systems (preferably QAD) and data management; Preferred.

Travel upwards of 10% - other manufacturing sites, application/R&D labs, business meetings, etc.; Required.

Field Service Technician

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

***While this position is remote, candidates must live in the Houston, Texas area***

With safety as the top priority, the Field Service Technician (FST) is responsible for installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment. Performs troubleshooting services to aid customers in resolving issues and help achieve maximum potential from our solutions. Will be the primary representative at the concrete manufacturing plant. Will install and maintain admixture dispensing systems for each Ready-Mix producer.

The FST will be required to interface regularly with plant management, batch plant operator and personnel. Based at home, the candidate will spend approximately 80% of their time as the only GCP/Chryso employee at the customer sites, thereby requiring candidate to work independently. Schedule flexibility is required. Field visits may be scheduled late at night and/or very early in the morning.

Installation, Maintenance and Repair

  • Technical work pertaining to admixture dispensing equipment includes, but is not limited to installation, preventive and scheduled maintenance, calibration, and emergency and service repair
  • Coordinate problem resolution with other employees as needed always serving as the local liaison and first line of contact to the customer.

Customer Relations:

  • Assist Field Sales Representatives in winning and maintenance of customer contracts by building and maintaining professional relationships with customers by performing regular site visits not necessarily relative to equipment needs or outages.
  • Regular site visits to check on admixture levels and customer needs.
  • Must have sound judgment, excellent communication &time management skills, & the ability to represent the company with customers in a professional manner.
  • Understand the impact of customer satisfaction to achieve corporate goals.

Planning & Scheduling of Dispenser Service Work:

  • An independent self-starter, self-directed person who possesses the ability to diagnose and determine requirements, plan and schedule daily, weekly and monthly events in accordance with the needs of the company and the customer.
  • Interact directly with internal as well as external customers daily and demonstrate organizational skills, planning skills, customer orientation and project management skills.
  • Responsible for managing ‘response time’ consistent with customer expectations or agreement.
  • Must be on continuous call to respond to customer requests for assistance; diagnoses and solves technical problems, providing on-site assistance to customer locations for proper application of our equipment/products.

Equipment Service Administration:

Proficient with computers in order to order equipment, Warehouse part re-stocking, Expense reports, Service Management System compliance, Preventative Maintenance, calibration scheduling and compliance, actively control expenses and demonstrate stewardship of company resources, maintain real time participation CRM reporting systems.

Other Duties:

  • Complete all safety training & Observe all safety procedures, both of Saint-Gobain & those of host companies.
  • Develop a solid understanding of concrete/concrete industry, most importantly the operations of a concrete plant.
  • Recommend modifications and product changes to improve reliability of equipment
  • Work with R&D providing input to new system designs or researching/testing concept of operation of new parts and providing input to improve reliability & performance

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 6+ years' experience in mechanical/engineering work (1 year of education beyond high school counts as 1 year of experience)

  • Ability to learn new technology and processes quickly

BENEFITS IN JOINING US

Certain locations require pay information be provided in job postings. Saint-Gobain aims to deliver a comprehensive Total Rewards package to support our employees’ wellbeing and help improve daily life for themselves and their families. We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer potential candidates. Provided is the national pay range for this position which is $60,000 to $75,000 per year. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 8% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $64,800 to $81,000. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
