What’s the job?

The Maintenance and Facilities Engineer is responsible for planning and performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting and repair, preventative maintenance, Root Cause Analysis, and machine optimization for all site equipment, processes, and facilities. This role develops and executes maintenance programs, manages technical projects, maintains vendor relationships, and provides hands-on support to Facilities and EHS Technician. The Engineer ensures a safe and compliant work environment, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and maintains accurate records to drive operational excellence and meet customer expectations.

The Facilities Engineer will proactively work to implement a safe work environment that complies with the site specific and corporate safety goals. Exhibit good environmental practices and procedures consistent with job(s) performed and EMS (Environmental Management System) requirements. Strict adherence to Corporate and/or local policies, rules, and regulations in these areas is required. A commitment to carrying out the Company’s Policies is required.

  • Develops and maintains an effective preventative and routine maintenance program for all production equipment and support systems in such a manner as to achieve business and department end results. Works with production and maintenance personnel to identify preventative maintenance activities necessary to support operations.
  • Maintains electronic records of all plant and individual equipment performance. Ensures documented work instructions, maintenance procedures and SOPs are developed and maintained.
  • Manages facilities services required for daily operations, including utilities and contractors, both internal and external stakeholders to ensure stable, reliable operations. Ensures Contractor Management Program is followed, maintained and documented.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues, conduct Root Cause Analysis, and implement sustainable solutions to reduce downtime and improve reliability. Hands on performance of repair and maintenance activity for equipment in conjunction with the maintenance and EHS technician.
  • Supervise and lead maintenance personnel including scheduling overtime, training and reviewing performance. Supports technical training and development and ensures adequate training received prior to working on manufacturing equipment. Provides coaching where needed.
  • Stakeholder in capital expense projects to ensure compliance with all SG standards as well as regulatory requirements and compatibility to current or future infrastructure requirements.
  • Executing project plan (task) by managing all day to day aspects of the projects working with the site supervisors, sub-contractors and vendors to coordinate and maintain safety, schedule, cost and project quality. Collaborate and frequently communicate with the local site team to provide current project status.

What do you bring?

  • Bachelor Degree in engineering. (Relevant experience and alternative technical education in lieu of a degree may be considered)
  • 3+ years experience performing maintenance and repair of manufacturing equipment
  • 3+ years’ experience with preventative, routine, and unplanned maintenance of manufacturing equipment
  • 1+ years’ of supervisory experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitudes, and a working knowledge of air handling, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and understand complex electrical, mechanical and automation systems.
  • Excellent communication skills written and oral and analytical skills. Good interpersonal skills.
  • Prroject management experience, with ability to design, manage, and implement projects of a technical nature. Able to keep track of multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficient in use of MS Office (Outlook, teams, excel, PowerPoint) – high level knowledge of computer systems/programs especially in areas of preventive maintenance solutions/tracking.
  • Exhibit safety awareness and safe work practices
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team with a sense of urgency.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, 5S and continuous improvement methodologies

The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $87,450.00 to $135,850.00. Responsibilities

  • Accurately pick, pack, and process orders for timely shipment. Pick customer orders for shipment and ensure accuracy by picking the correct number and type of product.
  • Compare internal orders with packing lists. Verifying/Receiving/inspecting and signing for shipment and courier deliveries. Unpack, inspect, sort and put stock away in appropriate locations.
  • Load and unload trailers and operate material handling equipment such as forklift or pallet jacks.
  • Conduct inventory cycle counts, maintain and organize inventory, ensure stock is in the correct location while keeping the warehouse clean and safe.
  • Communicate with the Supervisor regarding low stock items, and document and report any damage or deficiencies immediately.
  • Ensure the proper use of PPE and always adhere to safety protocols.
  • Maintain safety compliance when operating material handling equipment, perform daily inspection of forklift prior to use, and report any unsafe work conditions that may arise.

Senior Project Manager

  • Completes phased engineering studies of projects for North American facilities, developing and evaluating conceptual alternatives in support of business needs.
  • Prepares Capex authorization requests and presents to Senior Management for approval.
  • Develops and maintains sound business relationships with Engineering’s Customers, Vendors, Suppliers, and contract resources and ensures alignment with our needs and expectations.
  • Optimal use of competitive bidding, Low-Cost Country (LCC) sourcing techniques to designated countries for competitive installation costs.
  • Provides Project Execution Plans, including Critical Path Schedules, Resource Plans, Project Risk Registers, and Budget and Variance reports.
  • Strict regard for Project Scope and Change Management procedures.
  • Utilizes World Class Manufacturing (WCM) and Early Equipment Management tools for new designs and installations.
  • Collaborates with global internal and external project management experts to assure Best Practice implementation within our facilities.
  • Directs project engineers; coordinates external vendors, installation contractors.
  • Trains and leads the project management community in the identification and application of efficient project management tools and techniques.
  • Key Contributor in assuring the company’s immediate and long-term capital program objectives are achieved.
  • Assures capital program is implemented cost-effectively. Prepares capital cost estimates, capex budget requests, project spending variance reports, purchase orders, as well as invoice approvals. Assures projects achieve business benefit before closure. Develops reliable cost-effective project resources and methods, employing competitive bidding, low-cost country sourcing where advantageous.
  • Insures adherence to documentation systems, Intellectual Property development and protection.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience with a successful record of accomplishment safely leading the completion of several major industrial project installations throughout North America.
  • Ten (10) to Fifteen (15) years of related industrial, engineering or contracting experience in Project Engineering for major industrial projects.
  • Recognized Project Management Expert for industrial facilities, experienced in directing engineering, consulting and construction resources within heavy industrial manufacturing environments on major capital project teams.
  • Demonstrated record of project assignments completed on/under budget, on/ahead of required dates.

Category Manager

This position is responsible for managing raw material purchases for some chemicals/resins for North America region and subcontracting for the Siding Products Group (SPG)business, representing from $100 to $150MM annually. This position is accountable for the strategic and demands and sourcing strategies and results impacting the business. This will include strategic negotiations with material suppliers and logistic providers and close collaboration with our business.  All Purchasing corporate policies must be implemented and adhered to both at the category and site level.

Strategic raw materials sourcing management:

  • Establish clear and formal long term strategies for the sourcing of raw materials in line with Business Units goals and objective.
  • Establish clear and formal long term strategies for the sourcing of subcontracting activities for the SPG business
  • Responsible for market research for this commodity and design and drive the purchasing strategy of this commodity (environmental, indices, routes, transportation, etc.).
  • Fully research, understand and regularly update of the categories assigned landscape in NA as is relates to competitors, markets, tariffs and taxes, legal aspects, etc.
  • Lead RFP’s and supplier negotiations. Continuously challenge suppliers and obtain competitive prices on all raw materials.
  • Implement formal supply agreements with all key suppliers with the help of the legal group.
  • Work across several North American business units for relevant raw materials categories and create cross-BU strategies in the best interest of the company.
  • Identify, lead and implement VAVE (Value Added / Value Engineering) projects with suppliers to right size specifications of raw materials or components purchased in order to increase end customer value and/or reduce costs.
  • Work with R&D for cost savings opportunities, Business Continuity Planning (risk mitigation) and New Product Development initiatives, based on business priorities.

Other Programs & Reporting:

  • Support sites regarding inventory, special requirements for logistics, MOQ’s, Lead-Time, etc.
  • Support in problem solving with Treasury, Accounts Payable, Finance and Site buyers / controllers.
  • Work in line with the worldwide organization regarding data sharing, opportunities, new sources, etc.
  • Full compliance to the Saint-Gobain Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives (Supplier Charter, Ecovadis, Timber Certificates…)
  • Implement all Saint-Gobain Digital tools and programs applicable for the category.
  • Provide inputs to various Saint-Gobain reporting schedules: Budget, RF’s, etc.

  • Support Purchasing team during budget, RFQ’s and other reports needed
  • Support eventual quality complaints, or specific needs from the sites using the materials of the categories
  • Participate in Saint-Gobain online and in-person training sessions

CNC Toolmaker

The Omniseal Solutions division is looking for an experienced CNC Toolmaker to join the Saint-Gobain team in Orange, CT.

The CNC Toolmaker must be able to fabricate and/or repair precision parts, dies to support production operations. They will set up and operate a variety of computer-controlled and mechanically controlled machines, manufacture tools to produce precision metal parts, fixtures, and die components.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Machining tools, fixtures, and die components prior to and after heat treating.
  • Read, review, understand, and interpret blueprint specifications for machined and/or fabricated parts with special focus on stamping die components. Competent in the use of inspection tools.

Program Overview:

Our 18-month development program places participants in a full-time operational role, giving them the opportunity to strengthen their manufacturing skills while gaining exposure to Saint-Gobain North America. Each participant is assigned to a manufacturing site for 18 months and travels quarterly to other Saint-Gobain facilities across North America. Participants spend 80% of their time on local site projects and 20% on EOM program activities.

Many of these activities are designed to accelerate career development and long-term professional growth, including virtual and classroom training, hands-on learning experiences, and a wide range of networking opportunities. Participation in training sessions and quarterly events is mandatory to complete the program. Participants are expected to attend all activities unless exceptional circumstances arise.

While start dates may vary, the EOM program officially begins each July and concludes 18 months later, in December of the following year. After completing the program, EOM engineers work closely with our dedicated HR team to identify an operational role at one of our 160 sites across North America. While placement is not guaranteed, most graduates of the EOM program are able to choose from multiple opportunities within Saint-Gobain.

  • Providing engineering support for site process improvements.

As the EHS Supervisor, you will work collaboratively with Plant Management, Production, Maintenance, and Engineering team members and focus on various projects and initiatives within these teams. This position may be asked to also collaborate with other site EHS Supervisors or Coordinators within the network.
