Production Supervisor - Shift 1

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

The Production Supervisor provides leadership and facilitates the development of the production team. This position is accountable for meeting the established Key Performance Indicators (KPI): Safety, Quality, Delivery & Cost (SQDC). The Production Supervisor uses continuous improvement (CI) to drive collaboration and foster a learning environment for the production team. Additionally, the supervisor creates a culture of engagement and trust within the production team following the Saint-Gobain Principles of Conduct and Action.


Shift 1: 5:00am – 3:00pm


Essential Functions:


• Ensures Operational Efficiency: The supervisor oversees daily operations to ensure production processes run smoothly, minimizing downtime and improving productivity.


• Maintains Quality Standards: They are responsible for ensuring that products meet quality control standards, helping to reduce defects and maintain high customer satisfaction.


• Leads and Motivates Teams: By managing and motivating production teams, the supervisor ensures high morale, improving overall team performance and engagement.


• Enhances Safety Compliance: Ensures that all safety protocols and regulations are followed, creating a safe work environment and reducing accidents and injuries.


• Optimizes Resource Allocation: Efficiently manages labor, materials, and equipment to optimize production, ensuring the company meets demand while reducing waste and costs.


• Monitors Performance and Metrics: Tracks key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production output, efficiency, and costs to drive continuous improvement and meet company goals.


• Fosters Communication Across Departments: Acts as a bridge between management, production teams, and other departments, facilitating the flow of information and resolving any issues that arise.


• Supports Strategic Growth: Plays a key role in scaling production operations, implementing new processes, and adapting to changes in market demand or technology, supporting long-term business growth.

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
  • Experience: 3+ years in a Supervisory Role, manufacturing experience preferred

  • Participate in 5Y, Gemba, 5(6)S initiatives to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Oversee measurement systems and calibrations

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Completion of a College or University degree.
  • Minimum 3 years' Quality experience in manufacturing, preferably slit steel or industrial production.
  • Quality assurance or ISO auditor certification is preferred.
  • Project management experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing principals and cross-functional departments.
  • Experience in interfacing with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint).

  • Lead daily production meetings to communicate requirements for Safety, People, Quality and Production (SPQP)
  • Oversee the daily slitting operation, ensuring materials meet specifications and production goals.
  • Monitor and inspect product quality, address defects, and implement corrective actions. Address any quality issues immediately
  • Ensure that slitting equipment is running at optimal levels, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to improve efficiency and reduce downtime
  • Train and mentor team members on machine operation, safety, and troubleshooting techniques
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPI’s) machine downtime, yield, and scrap rates.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize production processes and reduce waste.
  • Ensure raw materials and supplies are available and properly managed.
  • Maintain clear communication with other departments, such as quality control, maintenance, and logistics, to ensure smooth operations and quick resolution of issues
  • Maintain supervisory control and direction over the department’s day to day production activities
  • Maintains a collaborative approach with other Team Leaders and with associates to increase productivity and throughput by creating a team-oriented environment
  • Enforce Lean Systems (5S, Gemba Walks, reducing waste), etc.
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed, conduct safety talks, and address hazards.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Completion of JHSC Certification Part 1 and Part 2.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of slitting manufacturing or production leadership, specifically in operations or machine handling, is required.
  • Expertise in slitting machines, material handling, and quality control.
  • Ability to manage, motivate, and develop teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs; Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word.

Role and Responsibilities:

This employee must demonstrate core skills, which include understanding company safety policies, adherence to the SGC Principles of Conduct and Action guidelines, as well as, the five SGC Attitudes. Also 5-S requirements, sustaining the process and general housekeeping guidelines are required. Employee must follow verbal and written instructions and have knowledge of product line and manufacturing standards. The normal operating duties are listed below are not intended to be inclusive and may change depending on unforeseen circumstances or are assigned by supervision for success of the operation.

  • Must be able to work independently or with a team
  • Must be able to read, write and do basic mathematic skills

WCM Focus Improvement Champion

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

The WCM Focused Improvement Team Champion is a corporate resource that will be responsible for the standardization and implementation of the WCM problem solving tools and project methodologies tools assuring logic, rigor and details when selecting and using them in all CertainTeed Roofing sites. 

  • Become a yellow belt trainer for routes within the priority pillars. Once obtained, the YB trainer trains and coaches yellow belts in CertainTeed Roofing and outside when needed.
  • Become certified to train the Root Cause Analysis Tools, Enhanced Work Orders, Quick Kaizen and Standard Kaizen Methodology.
  • Coaches the sites Continuous Improvement Leader and pillar leaders
  • Invests in his/her education in the Operation Excellence field, inside or outside Saint Gobain.
  • Audits and assess the WCM Program according to the WCM audit grid.
  • Works in close collaboration with all Focused Improvement / Continuous Improvement leaders at the sites and all the WCM Leads assuring consistency in the WCM vision and methods.
  • Owns the WCM Project Tracker for CertainTeed Roofing and the development of an autonomous WCM Project Database.
  • Own and sustain the overall Project Management Approval process in roofing of project creation, execution, completion and sustainment in the Single Agenda of WCM A & B Savings projects. 
  • Work in close connection with the Advanced Manufacturing Team to streamline data collection and verification of KPI’s related to project activities.
  • Focused on WCM A savings is responsible for maintaining proper pace of savings generated.
  • Works in close collaboration with regional and plant level financial controllers for the management of project savings and project charter completion
  • Tracks the Focused Improvement KPI’s for all the plants generating a comprehensive dashboard.
  • Project On Time In Full (OTIF) is analyzed to identify reasons for delays and lack of results, defining and implementing countermeasures across all the plants
  • Drives the horizontal expansion of model areas for implementation of the pillars.
  • Owns Best Practice Sharing System for project expansion.
  • When new knowledge is gained, work with the other Pillar Leads to capture and properly document it in order to be shared and implemented in all the plants within the proper pillars.
  • Coach the teams and close the gaps in knowledge and skills at all levels.
  • Becomes a certified auditor for the WCM program and leads the WCM audit program within CertainTeed Roofing.

 

Duties/Responsibilities of the WCM Pillars:

  • Improve Performance, add Value and sustain results setting priorities.
  • Involve people, capture, and cascade knowledge.
  • Research and develop systems to sustain results and prevent losses within the pillar(s)
  • Define the systems and projects needed to achieve the pillar(s) objectives, when possible, across the plants.
  • Consolidate the know-how required for Loss Identification, Elimination and Prevention within the pillar(s)
  • Set a logical pillar development roadmap and plan how to achieve the business objectives, working with the plants to set priorities and supporting them in the journey.
  • Assess and plan the skills and resources requirement to achieve the business objectives

IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?

  • 5-10 years of experience in manufacturing, process engineering or technical project development with a good understanding of the plant organization and complex manufacturing processes.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience leading teams, preferred with direct reports.

The Mill/Braid Operator is responsible for safely operating both the mill and braiding machines. The Mill/Braid Operator will use the mill machine to compound silicone raw silicone to provide to the Extrusion Operators. The Operator must mill batches, up to 40 lbs., using the two-roll mill, to mix material per the routing notes, SOPs, MOPs, or batch records. Operator must also visually inspect product to ensure parts are clean and free of any dirt, hair, or particulate before supplying to the Extrusion department.

The Mill/Braid Operator will also be responsible for braiding reinforced silicone tubing using the braiding machine. This Operator must also record in-process inspections and verifications using Good Documentation Practices (GDP). Proficient at the operation, OJT & trouble-shooting processes/equipment in the mill/braid department. Operator is expected to safely produce the highest quality products in the silicone industry, following the standards of operation as set forth by SGPPL, Beaverton.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

    • Minimum High School Diploma or GED is required

    • Machine Operating Experience is preferred
    • Proficient with measurement equipment is required

Maintenance Mechanic

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

The Chowchilla Manufacturing Facility operates 24/7. Successful candidates will possess the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays, 12-hour shifts and rotate from day shift (7:30 am to 7:30 pm) to night shift (7:30 pm to 7:30 am) every 4 weeks. This schedule repeats throughout the year.

 

Maintenance Mechanics support the site activities related to equipment reliability, maintenance, and safety. Mechanics will troubleshoot machine breakdowns and make repairs safely to restore the machine to the proper operating condition. Mechanics must adhere to all company safety policies and JSAs while performing tasks and at all times on the premises.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Troubleshoots and repairs down or malfunctioning facilities and production equipment. Repairs or fabricates equipment.
  • Installing, modifying, adjusting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repair of all mobile & plant equipment.
  • Repair and troubleshoot all rotating and stationary equipment, such as motors and gearboxes.
  • Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic systems.
  • Follow standard operating procedures-PM schedules, maintenance work orders.
  • Disassemble production machinery and plant equipment to locate defective parts. Remove and replace defective parts such as bushings, bearings, shafts, gears and motors.
  • Recognize conditions that could lead to equipment breakdowns.
  • Monitor critical pieces of equipment, to detect and resolve issues utilizing WCM tools.
  • Maintain good housekeeping of maintenance area and production areas where maintenance work has taken place.
  • Able to work within the Safe Work Process and Permitting procedures in CertainTeed,LLC.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Plant Controller

The Plant Controller is responsible for planning and managing all day-to-day financial activities with respect to the coordination of budgets and forecast development. The Plant Controller is also responsible for directing and controlling all accounting functions at the site level including financial planning and analysis, reporting, and establishing internal controls. This individual will do reporting that oversees cost accounting and production operation responsibilities.

In addition to executing the financial system of the site, the Plant Controller will develop the financial system to provide insightful continuous analyses that give direction in how to improve the site. The Plant Controller is expected to stay abreast of and actively participate in all site activity in order to guide the Plant Manager and Operational Staff in strategic decision making.

Essential Duties Include:

• Partner with plant management to increase plant efficiency and profitability - identify issues and proactively initiate analyses / solutions quickly and accurately. Meet the needs of a complex, diverse, dynamic and fast paced organization that will pose a wide variety of challenges from a manufacturing level.

• Manage the timely completion of the month-end financial close,, demonstrating awareness of all elements of a plant’s financial statements.

• Prepare analysis to understand the financial ramifications of current and proposed business actions

• Ensure compliance with Saint-Gobain policies and procedures

• Prepare and coordinate the annual budget at the plant level, oversee and reconcile inventory cycle counts and annual physical inventory and assist in preparation of capital appropriations requests

• Project work based on company objectives & supporting / challenging Six Sigma activities with special focus on the financial analysis, and cost reduction projects

• Financial training for non-financial stakeholders - ability to effectively develop people and transfer knowledge down into, and across, the financial and manufacturing organizations

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Finance, CPA, CMA, or MBA preferable (Equivalent, complementary work experience may be substituted)
