Lynchburg Mill is seeking an hourly Mechanical Maintenance Technician with the ability to provide primary millwright skills for the Lynchburg Mill.

The position reports to the Mechanical Maintenance Superintendent but at times may report to other maintenance managers, the Production Superintendent, the Production Supervisors, or the General Manager, depending on circumstances.

The technician is expected to follow plant safety procedures such as Lockout/Tagout, pre-task checklists, confined space entry, etc. Typically, this will be a day shift position, but overtime and/or shift work may be required to complete assigned tasks, perform work on extended machine outages, or other requirements that may arise.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

This facility is operated as a multi-craft team concept mill, and all individuals are required to work to their potential. This job description does not limit the responsibilities of the Mechanical Maintenance Technician.

IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?

  • 5 years of maintenance experience, preferably in a heavy industrial setting.
  • Excellent problem-solving ability.
  • JDE or other computer maintenance management system experience.
  • Knowledge of paper mill processes and equipment.
  • Physical requirements: Work at heights, confined space, ability to lift, push, pull, carry 50 lbs. Navigate stairs, stand, walk, bend, and kneel throughout the entire shift.
  • Detail-oriented and able to work with minimum supervision.

The Maintenance and Engineering Manager is responsible for managing the maintenance and engineering department at our Calgary board plant facility. They will also be in charge of the capital investment program for the site. Additionally, the successful candidate will be accountable for the following:

  • Ensure safe working conditions are maintained and improved regarding process and plant infrastructure.
  • Ensure business continuity through Site Risk reduction program.
  • Ensure environmental impact is minimized and reduced with regard to process and plant infrastructure.
  • Support reduction in Plant Energy consumption through equipment performance.
  • Ensure the engineering team is briefed, consulted, trained, and developed to improve plant performance in line with the World Class Manufacturing (WCM) program.
  • Develop and operate a structured WCM approach to maintenance, fully exploiting all opportunities to improve plant reliability.
  • Own the plant reliability KPI’s, stratifying the time losses and proposing the improvement activities to reduce the losses.
  • Lead PM and EEM Pillars with strong involvement in AM Pillars.
  • Support other continuous improvement activities/pillars.
  • Ensure safety audits, risk assessments, SMAT’s, OSA’s are carried out by the Engineering teams, to the required timescale and standard.
  • Ensure WCM methodologies are understood and implemented by all Engineering personnel.
  • Control the maintenance budgets, and individual.
  • Develop and manage the capital budget and projects for the site, with the support from the local and central engineering team.
  • Delivery of planned capex requirements completed in full, on time and in budget.
  • Capex creation & submission.

Job Summary

Operate extruder machines to produce products which conform to part print. Assure products meet all quality specifications and are made according to the latest procedures and standards. Set up extrusion equipment to produce parts to specification.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Set Up extrusion machines by installing dyes, machine screws, and sizing rings to manufacture parts according to specifications using approved set up sheets to cycle machines
  • Weigh materials and other specified ingredients per specifications/instructions and Load blended materials in hopper on molding machines as needed
  • Operate extrusion machines to produce specified product according to customer specifications and ensuring Quality of the parts.
  • Inspect Parts for defects and make necessary corrections to troubleshoot them out of the process. Escalate when help is needed
  • Utilize the Manufacturing Execution System to update job data, material usage, locate process sheets, view prints, etc.
  • Measure Parts according to print guidelines using calipers, rulers, and other measuring devices.
  • Meet Productivity standards on a consistent basis. Escalate issues to management that will affect productivity.
  • Purge machines during the changeover process to ensure the machine is ready for the next cycle.
  • Set Up and Operate the cutter to cut tubing to specified dimensions.
  • Label and Seal Bags
  • Operate the auto winder removing spools f completed product and setting up the next spool to ensure proper operations of the auto winder
  • Set up the printer to properly label tubing per specifications
  • Suggest work instruction corrections/recommendations to help foster an environment of continuous improvement
  • Perform other related tasks, including but not limited to, performing housekeeping tasks required to keep work areas clean and organized.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. Efficient and willingness to perform required work with good attendance and attitude. Understand SOP's relating to the department activities. Good analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills. Must be a team player. Effective communication skills essential - both written and verbal

Must be able to properly fill out time reporting and work order documentation. Operational knowledge of injection molding machines is preferred.

​PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Requires walking, primarily on a level surface throughout the day. May need to climb stairs/steps periodically. May need to stoop or kneel and reach above shoulder heights, below the waist. Lifting as required with proper lifting techniques up to 50 pounds on occasion.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position is in a clean room environment where the use of personal protective equipment such as hearing protection, safety glasses, and safety shoes are mandated. Noise levels and temperatures may vary due to areas accessed. There is some exposure to dust, fumes, and chemicals such as alcohol.

  • Extrusion Line Operator - Extruded Tape - The position is responsible for extruding raw materials into a film that is rolled up into roll form. Employee is responsible for the production, paperwork, and storage of the PTFE Film Extruded for their machine
  • Converting Operator - Pressure Sensitive Adhesive Tapes - The position is responsible for the converting of log rolls of PSAT to smaller rolls. Employee is responsible for operating a rewind or lathe slitter to convert to customer specification and order

IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?

We are seeking candidates with the following:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • You will need to be reliable and punctual, able to perform physical tasks that are repetitive, and lift up to 25-50 pounds.
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings, use simple math and use basic hand held measuring tools.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • While prior manufacturing experience is preferred, we will provide on-the-job training for qualified applicants.

Certain states require pay information be provided in job postings. The local pay range for this position is $19.20 per hour. This hourly pay rate offered can vary depending on location/geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to the hourly base pay rate, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount can be up to 10% of hourly rate based on company and individual performance measures.

The total annual target cash range (Hourly Pay Rate, Shift Differential and projected Bonus), annualized (40 hrs/week * 52wks) for this position, is $44,116.80.

Additional Pay Incentives for this Role Include:

You will spend your time operating and monitoring equipment during a constant operation process. The process consists of operating system controls and equipment to produce and form the final product. Process (WCM/Lean) Engineer

The Process/WCM Engineer is responsible for driving optimization and improvement initiatives at the Orange, CT Omniseal Solutions plant. The primary focus of this position is to analyze manufacturing processes, identify opportunities for increased efficiency, and implement solutions that enhance product quality, consistency, and throughput. The role involves thorough documentation of processes and changes, as well as conducting root cause analysis to resolve operational issues and prevent recurrence.

As part of the Engineering Team, the incumbent provides technical expertise and change management support to achieve site objectives. The Process Engineer develops and maintains process control strategies and standards, ensuring clear and efficient communication with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, tool room, facilities, finance, customer service, and cross-functional agile teams.

In addition to process engineering responsibilities, the position supports World Class Manufacturing (WCM) program activities as needed. This includes participating in focused improvement projects, assisting with WCM training, and providing guidance on WCM tools and methodologies to plant teams. WCM responsibilities include:

  • Lead and/or participate in continuous improvement projects.
  • Train small groups on the WCM philosophy and tools
  • Develop process control strategies and standards to improve operational efficiency
  • Assist the plant in the identification and prioritization of cost deployment projects.
  • As a WCM Subject Matter Expert and Business Partner, provide training, support, and direction to plant teams as appropriate to help them identify, analyze, and solve operational problems.
  • Mentor colleagues to take ownership & use the WCM tools/methods in their daily work.
  • Track Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) relative to the WCM program and report cumulative progress
  • Serves as a 5S Plant Champion and supports 5S throughout the facility.
  • Supporting site WCM pillars as required (the site currently has an active People pillar and EHS pillar)
