Position Summary

The Plant Manager, under the direction of the Vice President of Operations, People and Culture, will primarily be responsible for overseeing the manufacturing environment. This position will develop strategic performance metrics and targets that are consistent with company goals. What you’ll do:

  • Stay up to date on new and emerging trends in the manufacturing industry.

Position Summary

The Assistant Loading Supervisor, under the direction of the Loading Supervisor, will primarily be responsible for supporting the Loading Supervisor, overseeing the safe loading of trucks, assisting customers, and providing guidance and direction to the other shipping employees. This position is hands-on and will require the successful candidate to learn and perform all aspects of loading. This position will ensure that all employees comply with company policies, procedures, and safety standards. This role will also ensure effectiveness of employees through assignment of duties, discipline, and dismissal.

What you’ll do:

  • Ensure safe work practices are being followed.
  • Ensure that employees adhere to all health and safety regulations.
  • Ensure that all staff under your direction are equipped with and are using the proper personal protective equipment.
  • Ensure that every employee under your direction is trained on every task they will be required to perform throughout their shift ie. safe operation, paperwork completion, banding/strapping, housekeeping, setting up trailers, etc.
  • Ensure that the Loading lead hands are effectively training and monitoring the loading team.
  • Oversee staff to ensure work is being performed according to established standards.
  • With the support of Human Resources, handle employee complaints and incidents, including conflict resolution, accidents, health and safety concerns, work refusals, and investigations.
  • Ensure that loads are shipped completely and that the trucks are loaded safely.
  • Work closely with the Logistics Coordinator and the Loading Supervisor to determine daily priorities.
  • Notify the sales team of any product that did not make it on the truck.
  • Inspect the racks and surrounding area on a daily basis to ensure that product is not forgotten.
  • Ensure that all trucks have the required load manifest paperwork.
  • Determine areas of improvement for employees, providing additional training as needed.
  • Celebrate successes and foster an atmosphere of success.
  • Provide informal feedback and coaching to staff on an ongoing basis and document those discussions.
  • Ensure employees have clear goals and are aware of expectations.
  • Participate in site and workplace inspections.
  • Liaise with other departments as well as other shifts to ensure that all parties are aware of the priorities for the day.
  • Assist with the loading of customer vehicles or the loading of trucks as required.
  • Safely operate material handling equipment such as the Moffetts, Combi-lift forklifts, and counterbalance forklifts.
  • Unload shipments from vendors as required.
  • Assist with the control of traffic in the yard.
  • Ensure that the employees under your direction maintain a clean working environment.
  • Ensure that all employees take allotted vacation time in compliance with applicable employment and labour standards.
  • Approve vacation requests and monitor vacation schedules to ensure appropriate coverage.
  • Other duties as assigned.

We’re seeking a dynamic Plant Manager to lead our Little Rock, AR facility—home to a multi-product commercial roofing operation. This role is responsible for delivering results across safety, operational performance, cost control, capital execution, and talent development.   • Manage, direct, and coordinate Plant staff functions. Manage positive employee relations.
  • Staff all above functions, as appropriate to the most effective achievement of operational goals and objectives.
  • Design and administer effective Human Resources programs to equip employees to achieve business goals and to foster career development and organizational succession plans
  • Ensure that the facility is operating safely and in full environmental compliance.

IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?

The Maintenance Mechanic will carry out repair and preventive maintenance activities. This includes promptly diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing parts for flat roll steel slitting lines, packaging equipment, banding tools, and hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.

  • Plan, organize, transfer, and install machinery and equipment as per manufacturer’s instructions without compromising safety.

  • Develop required reporting forms, and documentation.
  • Identify and implement work measures to continually improve maintenance work methods, systems, productivity, safety, and quality of service.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • 5 + years of experience, preferred in a steel processing or steel-making plant environment.
  • Hydraulic systems and heavy equipment experience is essential.
  • Red Seal Certificate (asset).
  • Electronic/Instrumentation maintenance experience (asset).

Job Summary

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for developing, improving, and maintaining maintenance systems, employees, materials and equipment in a manner consistent with CertainTeed Gypsum Vision, Mission, Values and Objectives (VMVO).

Plant Manager

The Plant Manager is responsible for leading the Wilmington, California manufacturing facility to achieve operations goals and objectives regarding plant safety, environmental, quality, service, profitability, capital investment, cost reduction programs, strategic operations planning - all while maintaining a positive employee relations climate.

Managers of the Production, Engineering, Materials Management, WCM, Quality, and HSE functions report directly to the Plant Manager. The Plant Manager actively leads overall site safety and environmental initiatives to achieve and maintain world class performance and will direct and coordinate all operations related to production and shipment of roofing products produced at the Wilmington facility.

Main duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage, direct and coordinate all operations directly related to production and shipment of all products produced by the facility: Materials Management, Manufacturing and Manufacturing Systems, Facilities Engineering/Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Shipping and Receiving, Process Engineering, Purchasing
  • Manage, direct and coordinate Plant staff functions and daily operational activities. Ensure people training and development activities to foster our TEC culture providing future leadership opportunities.
  • Staff all above functions, as appropriate to the most effective achievement of operational and strategic planning, goals and objectives (short term and long term).
  • Provides key leadership to quality, efficiency, productivity, EHS compliance and cost savings for the facility.
  • Prepare operational plans and budgets, and report to appropriate Management on actual performance vs. those plans.
  • Provide top leadership for positive labor relations and compliance to the sites CBA.
  • Drive systematic cost improvement and state-of-the-art processing through WCM program.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering or similar discipline required
  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive operations experience in a manufacturing environment required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a people management capacity required
  • Proven success managing a unionized workforce required
  • Ability to foster and establish effective working relationships - with plant employees and outside stakeholders/contacts - required

Maintenance Mechanic

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

Responsible for preventative maintenance tasks on industrial machinery, and maintain industrial equipment as necessary. Troubleshoot machine breakdown and repair situations and safely restore the machine to the proper operating condition. Must adhere to all company safety policies and JSA's while performing tasks and at all times when on the premises. NATURE & SCOPE OF POSITION:

  • Inspect non-operational equipment for component wear.
  • Replace non-operational components of equipment that are hindering the equipment from operating efficiently.
  • Fabricate and rebuild the components to be used on the equipment in the plant
  • Troubleshoot mechanical problems throughout the process
  • Read and interpret blueprints and layout instructions.
  • Knowledge and understanding of hydraulic/pneumatic theory.
  • Basic electrical knowledge and adequate skills to understand various plant processes.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform daily activities needed to support and comply with requirements surrounding plant maintenance activities.
  • Must be able to dismantle and repair auxiliary equipment such as pumps, compressors, and pipe systems, and perform basic welding and burning in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints and schematics, and wire control panels.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:   Manufacturing plant is not temperature controlled; dust, fumes, and high noise areas are present inside plant areas.  Manufacturing processes involve granules, sand, fiberglass, asphalt coating, crushed rock, and polypropylene.  Noise levels exceed 80 dB in some areas of the site. Moving equipment such as fork lifts, buggies, genie booms, and industrial sweepers travel throughout the facility, sometimes in congested areas

IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?

  • High School Diploma or GED is required
  • a minimum of ten (10) years of experience and successfully pass a skills test, that is intended to determine mechanical skills and knowledge, basic electrical, A/C, and 3 phase circuits, general welding, cutting, hydraulic, pneumatics, and instrumentation knowledge and skills.
  • Basic operating knowledge and understanding of computer systems.

This position will require active participation, training, knowledge, and understanding along with progression as a 3rd class and 2nd class mechanic.
