Position Summary

The Receptionist is responsible for a wide variety of clerical office duties in support of company administration. This includes coordinating and communicating office activities, greeting and screening visitors and answering and transferring inbound telephone calls. The Receptionist will also be responsible for administrating company correspondence.

  • Respond to telephone, e-mail, and in-person inquiries from clients, business partners, and other parties in a timely, professional, and courteous manner.

  • Assist with scanning and filing of bill of lading’s (“BOL”) and email to customers when required.
  • Reconciliation of all courier Invoices and statements.
  • Work closely with the Customer Service Supervisor to develop new ideas and support a continuous improvement process within and beyond your own area of responsibility.
  • Prepare and mail Bailey sales and marketing literature and product binders for sales staff as needed.
  • Keep track of (log) all customer calls to Sales Representatives. 
  • Maintain a high standard of professional knowledge, ethics, and practices when dealing with customers, suppliers, peers, supervisors, and other key stakeholders of the company.
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner that reflects integrity and respect towards customers, suppliers, peers, subordinates, supervisors, and other key stakeholders of the company.
  • Understand, support, and adhere to the company’s health and safety policies, programs, and procedures by communicating and promoting health and safety awareness to coworkers.
  • Participate in the company’s quarterly inventory count when required.
  • Support Social Committee activities where required.
  • Support the Customer Service Team with order entry when required.
  • Other responsibilities and accountabilities as assigned by the Customer Service Supervisor.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a customer service or administrative role is preferred.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office

Essential duties include:

• Lead the design and execution of advanced manufacturing strategies to sustainably enhance productivity, reduce cost, and improve consistency of product quality leveraging leading edge industry 4.0 technology

• Develop automation strategies that align with business long range planning

• Collaborate with plants and functions to align business objectives to I4.0 priorities

The Maintenance Mechanic will carry out repair and preventive maintenance activities. This includes promptly diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing parts for flat roll steel slitting lines, packaging equipment, banding tools, and hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.

What you’ll do:

  • Ensure the maintenance and repair of machinery, equipment, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems while meeting scheduling priorities, safety, quality productivity, and reliability requirements.
  • Develop, implement & maintain schedules & procedures for preventive maintenance programs in coordination with necessary departments and maintain logs/documents.
  • Advise daily the required repair time to scheduling, and production department if it takes more than 24 hours; Record equipment downtime and repair done in a systematic way.

  • Develop required reporting forms, and documentation.
  • Identify and implement work measures to continually improve maintenance work methods, systems, productivity, safety, and quality of service.

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Red Seal Certificate is an asset.
  • 5-7 years of experience in a steel processing or steel-making plant environment is preferred.
  • Electronic/Instrumentation maintenance experience is essential.
  • Hydraulic systems and heavy equipment experience is essential.
  • Welding skills operating mig and tig welders are an asset.
  • Forklift & overhead crane repair knowledge is an asset.

Production Supervisor

Research Technician – Inorganic Materials & Processing

The Inorganic Materials and Processing group (IMP) at SGR North America is searching for a Research Technician. The IMP group supports Business Units in the development of ceramic powders and components for industrial applications including structural, thermal, electrical, and abrasive applications.

The Research Technician performs experiments involving ceramic processing and application testing of ceramic materials as well as the operation and maintenance of high temperature furnaces. This involves lab work, data acquisition, and/or product development activities with minimal supervision. He/she works with engineers and customers in solving problems related to ceramic processing or the performance of ceramic materials.   In addition, this position may also perform specialized technical functions involving testing, analyzing, improving, installing, operating equipment and products for assigned areas.

Essential Functions

  • Operate and maintain high temperature furnaces used to process ceramic components.
  • Conduct experiments as assigned working with project leaders to develop new forming techniques, to conduct performance testing and to record data.
    • Primary areas of responsibility will be ceramic processing, measurement, and characterization.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment including set-up, operation and troubleshooting of experimental equipment or instruments. Lead troubleshooting initiatives and machine repair efforts. Perform preventive maintenance on equipment as required and maintain 5S within labs.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

Required Qualifications

High School diploma or GED (demonstrated equivalent) required.

  • 1-5 years of experience in manufacturing or research required.
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude required.
  • Ability to collect, enter, plot and manipulate scientific data using Excel, Word, PowerPoint required.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic knowledge of operation and maintenance of high temperature furnaces preferred.
  • Experience forming components from ceramic powders preferred.

  • Analyzes process variations; develops solutions and implements corrective actions by using advanced statistical tools in identifying and resolving the root causes of the variations in the process, and participates in resolving critical process and product problems with customers and vendors.
  • Responsibilities include the designing / developing new process systems, revising existing processes, and developing and coordinating the implementation of projects, which contribute substantially to plant profitability.
  • Interacts with Team for operational trouble-shooting, process improvement projects, production materials requirement, raw material availability and Quality Step Zero requirements. USE WCM tools and philosophy accumulated data to prepare diagrams and flow charts for the efficient operation of the equipment.
  • Interacts with consultants and suppliers to determine compatibility of other systems and products as they may apply to process improvement.
  • Develops and encourage innovative processes and equipment concepts along with follow through to Return on Investments (ROI) patents and / or proprietary intellectual property.
  • Analyzes operating problems, develops solutions, and leads the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Organizes and initiates run trials to evaluate equipment, process and raw material opportunities.
  • Responsible & Accountable for the integrity of the BOM including usage and deviations analysis.

What do you bring?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in chemical engineering, chemistry or similar discipline; or five (5) years of equivalent training and experience to have comprehensive knowledge of the practices, procedures and regulations associated with process control technology may be substituted for a degree.
  • Five to ten (5-10) years of applied professional process experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Two to three (2-3) years of experience in project management and project engineering fundamentals.
  • Previous experience with product formulation, water and foam chemistries, mass & energy balance, flow diagrams, Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), fluid properties and thermodynamics.
  • Working knowledge of advanced statistical tools used to reduce variations.
  • Flexible, open-minded team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem solving capabilities to work effectively in corporate, manufacturing and team environments.
  • Ability to provide leadership and innovation at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
