WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

The Mechanic I role is essential to supporting safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations within the Ennis Roofing facility. This position ensures that production equipment, mechanical systems, and plant infrastructure are properly maintained, operated, and repaired in alignment with company safety standards, quality expectations, and operational performance goals.

The incumbent is responsible for executing core mechanical duties under supervision while developing foundational skills in equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair. The role contributes directly to minimizing downtime, maintaining production continuity, and supporting the plant's commitment to safety, housekeeping, and 5S standards.

Shift: 2nd, 3:00pm-11:00pm

Essential Duties:

  • Understand and follow proper LOTO procedures. Use proper LOTO when working on equipment
  • Must be able to start up the various pieces of equipment according to the Standard Operating Procedure
  • Must understand basic computer skills and the ability to use a CMMS system.
  • Must have the ability to replace chains, all types of belts, and valves used in the plant.
  • Must have the ability to identify and replace bearings, sprockets, bushings, and gearboxes, including lubrication requirements.
  • Must be able to perform preventive maintenance, plus lubrication on the production lines and support equipment as required, independent of other mechanics
  • Demonstrate ability to utilize math in fractions and decimals
  • Demonstrate knowledge of metric measuring systems
  • Demonstrate ability to proficiently operate powered hand tools
  • Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot or replace various types of pumps
  • Demonstrated the ability to troubleshoot or replace pneumatic systems
  • Demonstrate ability to fabricate from blueprints or sketches, various jigs, hangers, and safety guards
  • Demonstrate proficiency in welding
  • Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems
  • Perform the minimum requirements for maintenance safety initiatives
  • Able to work independently or with a team
  • Ability to work while wearing a respirator
  • Must be able to work 8 to 12 hours on his/her feet, lift 50 lbs. on a repeated basis over a normal workday, and climb ladders safely
  • Preferred knowledge to operate scissor lift, man lift, bobcat, and forklift
  • Maintain 5S of work area and equipment
  • Fill in for an absent or vacationing employee in the same role
  • Perform administrative duties when necessary

IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?

  • High School Diploma or GED is required
  • Minimum time requirements of 6 months (Mechanic I) and 12 months free of any written disciplinary actions
  • In order to abide by certain OSHA and local government agency regulations, mandatory safety training, protective gear, and chemical handling procedures are required.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements:

  • Ability to perform physical job demands, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and using hand tools regularly
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise, moving equipment, and varying conditions
