WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

The Senior Product Development Engineer for Architectural Ceilings & Walls will develop a practical and scientific understanding of metal specialty products and grid ceiling systems, as well as their installation. Leveraging knowledge of materials, processes, and products, they will create strategically important metal ceiling and grid solutions that drive business growth. The role will require a strong safety mindset, an entrepreneurial approach, and a focus on environmentally responsible design.
Working closely with Product Management and Manufacturing, this individual will lead cross‑functional development initiatives to deliver customer driven, innovative, cost‑effective, and differentiated solutions in grid and metal specialties. They will also serve as an R&D ambassador to the Norcross, Bradenton, and Vaughan plant locations.
The Senior Product Development Engineer will build ceilings technical knowledge and competencies develop new products for CTA Specialties Team. In doing so, they will:
  • Provide R&D project leadership while working with Product Management, Operations, and Sales to develop differentiated solutions to customer needs.
  • Manage all stages of new product design, including prototyping, developing technical specifications, conducting production trials, identifying and mitigating risks during the stage gate process.
  • Manage 2 -3 projects simultaneously, ensuring they are delivered on time, well documented, and within budget
  • Become a subject matter expert in metal ceilings and grid products
  • Build awareness of competitor offerings and apply this to CTA product development.
  • Travel to business, supplier, and customer sites as needed.

IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?

  • BS degree and typically 7+ years of experience or MS degree and typically 3+ years of experience or Entry Level PhD. Degree in Engineering, Science, Industrial Design, Architecture or related field.
  • Experience in R&D and frequent interactions with manufacturing.
  • Ability to leverage strong analytical & problem-solving skills, to drive data-based actions
  • Project management skills, able to drive 2-3 projects forward simultaneously
  • Strong entrepreneurial mindset
  • Skilled at creating effective working relationships at various levels and across functions
  • Ability to embody Saint-Gobain attitudes and values including being trustworthy and reliable
  • Experience in product development; prototyping through industrialization preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including developing concise, scientifically relevant and accurate content for peer and manager review preferred
  • This role will require a strong commitment to maintaining a safe workplace.

Preferred work location is at our plant located in Norcross, GA. We would also consider our HQ in Malvern or at our plant in Bradenton, FL.
