Position Summary:

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Process and Quality Specialist is responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and enforcing the Quality Management System and continuous improvement programs in all areas of the organization. The role includes auditing operational processes to ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 standards and material quality requirements. Additionally, the Process and Quality Specialist will drive continuous improvement initiatives across all stages of our operational processes, identifying inefficiencies, implementing solutions, and ensuring sustained improvements that align with our company's strategic objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team to problem solve and determine root causes.
  • Drive effective 8D problem resolution processes by supporting, containing, and implementing corrective actions that are permanent and sustainable in nature.
  • Investigate customer and internal product quality issues and facilitate immediate and permanent corrective actions.
  • Develop, lead, support CIP (Continuous Improvement Process) initiatives focused on enhancing the quality system, products, and services.
  • Compile and graph Key Operating Indices related to quality and customer satisfaction; facilitate action plans to drive measurable improvement.
  • Develop PFMEA’s, control plans, inspection instructions, and supporting documentation.
  • Train associates on new and updated processes, work instructions, and SOPs with appropriate sign-offs records.
  • Create NCRs for internal and external nonconformances.
  • Tag, hold and release materials based on quality assessments.
  • Supply Sales and Customers with Mill test Reports as requested.
  • Inspect coils in house and during processing to identify issues and reallocate material effectively.
  • Conduct sample testing to validate product quality.
  • Participate in 5Y, Gemba, 5(6)S initiatives to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Oversee measurement systems and calibrations.
  • Analyze current manufacturing & supply chain processes and identify areas for improvement in terms of efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ability to collect, interpret, and analyze data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement process improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies to reduce waste and improve throughput.
  • Lead Kaizen events and other improvement workshops to engage teams in identifying and solving process-related challenges.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Production, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain) to identify bottlenecks, pain points, and improvement opportunities.
  • Define and lead team meetings required to track project deliverables with team members.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), training documentation, workflows, and process maps.
  • Monitor performance metrics and KPIs to assess the effectiveness of implemented improvements and make adjustments as needed.
  • Conduct data analysis and reporting to track process performance and improvement outcomes.
  • Implement and coordinate process improvement, CapEx/OpEx projects. Not limited to the creation of SOW’s, supplier/vendor management, organizing procurement while administering the PDCA (open issues) tracker...

Main requirements:

  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years' process improvement experience in a slit steel or an industrial manufacturing environment (e.g., Aerospace, Automotive or Systems Engineering).
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma and PMP is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing principles and cross-functional departments.
  • Experience in interfacing with customers, internal teams, and suppliers.
  • Process and data-driven technical background.
  • Driving accountability and execution.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with fluency in English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint).

Working Conditions:

  • Able to lift materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Work in both production floor and office environments, with exposure to heavy equipment, dust and fumes.
  • Occasional business travel.
